Many homes will have at least one computer in them these days, a lot more people both young and old are now using computers to access the internet as well as other reasons and the humble home computer has now become more widely used in the home as well as in some cases breaking out of the home study and into everyday use in the living room sat next to our TV.

This particular use for desktop PCs uses a smaller form factor PC that will fit under the television either looking like a set top box that you will often see in the living room or a small cube shape. These PCs are often referred to as Home Theatre PCs (HTPC) and are used to play music videos and photos off your computer on your big screen TV as well as being able to browse the internet from your couch.

Other uses for desktop PCs can be storing all of your music, photos and other items that may have begun life in physical form but when converted on your computer you can hold an entire music shop's worth of CDs and every family photo you've ever taken or scanned into your computer. With music and photos stored on your computer you can even repair them such as photos that have been scratched or faded can be digitally restored as can music where many people have encoded their CD or LP collection to clean the tracks up removing those annoying pops and hisses that blight older recordings.
